Frequently Asked Questions about Bellafill®

Do you offer Bellafill injections?
Yes, the Doctor and Nurse Practitioners have completed the Bellafill company required training program and are fully trained in the proper injection technique required for Artfill Permanent Aesthetic Injectable Implant.

What is Bellafill?
Bellafill is the first and only FDA-approved non-resorbable aesthetic injectable implant for the correction of facial wrinkles known as nasolabial folds, or smile lines. Bellafill consists of a combination of Bellafill Precision-Filtered Microspheres, Bellafill Purified Bovine Collagen and lidocaine for comfort.

What are microspheres?
The tiny microspheres in Bellafill are made of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA), one of the most widely used synthetic implant materials in medicine. The microspheres in Bellafill remain intact at the injection site and provide permanent structural support to correct the wrinkle and keep it from returning.

How does Bellafill differ from temporary fillers?
Temporary dermal fillers are made of different kinds of natural or synthetic materials that are completely absorbed by the body over time and as a result wrinkle correction usually only lasts 6-12 months. Based on the latest long-term FDA clinical research studies (13 yrs), Bellafill lasts approximately 10 years.

How does Bellafill work?
The purified bovine collagen gel acts as a carrier for the microspheres in Bellafill Gradually, your body absorbs the injected bovine collagen while the PMMA microspheres remain and provide a permanent support structure below the wrinkle to sustain wrinkle correction.

How long does an Bellafill treatment take?
A typical Bellafill treatment only takes about 15-30 minutes. It’s easy to fit it into your lunch hour and you can return to your normal activities immediately.

Is Bellafill safe?
Yes. The FDA has approved Bellafill for the safe and effective correction of facial wrinkles known as smile lines.

Will I need more than one treatment?
The Dr. will work with you to develop a treatment program to meet your individual needs. Most people get the results they want with one or two treatments, depending on the depth of their wrinkles and folds.

Are the injections painful?
Bellafill is formulated with an anesthetic (lidocaine). The injection technique used to administer Bellafill does not require numerous needle sticks. For additional comfort, the doctor may numb the treatment area with a topical or local anesthetic agent.

Are there any side effects?
As with all dermal fillers, side effects may occur. During your initial consultation, the doctor will review your individualized treatment plan and other important considerations.
